100 years!
We had a chance to stop by Epcot at the Walt Disney World resort, where they are celebrating the 100th year of Disney! Epcot had plenty of new signs, banners and statues commemorating the anniversary. Despite what the media has been saying, the park was extremely crowded! After standing in line for a bit, we got a chance to say hello to Mickey and Minnie. They were decked out in their new 100 year costumes!
Snacks
Epcot was still in the middle of their Food & Wine Festival as well, so there was an abundance of food and drink options. We opted to try out the Belgian waffles and Impossible vegan hot wings. The waffles are pretty hard to mess up, so as expected they were a tasty mid-day snack. Maybe not quite to the level as the original ones we had in Belgium, but they satisfied the craving. As far as the hot wings, I was pleasantly surprised how crispy and tasty they were. Not being a vegan, I’m actually fond of several of the vegan options at Epcot, particularly the chili. Getting back to the wings, the fact that they are covered in hot sauce and bleu cheese / ranch means the vegan “meat” needs to not just add a bad flavor. I thought they were quite tasty and would certainly get them again.
Journey of Water
Epcot has been undergoing construction for several years now and it always seems more and more of it is wrapped in the particle board temporary walls, but at least today some of them had come down. This was our first chance to see the Journey of Water attraction, inspired by the Moana movie. It is a walk-through, totally outdoor attraction. It showcases the water cycle in a fun an interactive way. Caution – you might get wet. As hot as it was today, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Passholder perks
We also needed to stop by to grab our Annual Passholder magnets for this year. The featured character this year is Oswald!
