If you travel as much as us, it’s important to be as prepared as possible. Whether it’s getting ready to fly, being comfortable on the airplane or making sure you have everything necessary when you get there. To help our readers we’ve put together a list of some of our favorite products. We’ve also provided some helpful links to buy them direct from Amazon.
Travel wallet
When traveling, the last thing you want is to have your valuables, or even your passport stolen. The old hip worn travel wallets are a bit awkward to wear and even more awkward to access in public. These neck worn wallets are more comfortable, easier to keep an eye on and can usually fit nicely under your shirt or jacket.
I especially like them when I’m navigating the airport. Keeping track of everything and repeatedly having to pull our your passport and boarding pass gets annoying. They also give you a nice place to keep your important belonging when you’re sleeping on the plane.
Most will fit your phone, earphones, credit cards, identification and the absolute necessities. Getting one that has actual RFID blocking technology will also keep your credit cards safe from skimmers.
Travel umbrella
We love this umbrella! It stands up to the wind and is fits nicely in our backpacks. We usually carry them in one of the spare water bottle holders for quick access. They pop and collapse easily. They also come in a variety of fun colors.
Toiletry set (TSA Approved)
The last thing anyone wants is anymore hassle when going through security at the airport. This toiletry bag will let you slide on through. It gives you a lot of options to carry your liquids and you know they’re in just the right sizes.
Travel adapter
If you’ve ever traveled overseas, you already know how important having a good travel adapter is. You’re going to want something with a wide range of compatibility too. Since many hotels don’t have well-placed outlets, it’s also convenient to be able to charge multiple devices with the same adapter simultaneously. These don’t change the voltage, so if you need that, see the voltage converters next.
Voltage converter
The last thing you want to do is arrive at your vacation destination, plug in your electrical device and watch it die in a poof of smoke. Having a voltage converter will put a stop that. No more dead hair dryers, electric toothbrushes or shavers.
Water bottle with filter
Don’t drink the water! At least not without filtering it first. No one wants to drink contaminated water when traveling, so grab yourself one of the bottles. It’ll also save you from having to buy water bottles for when you’re out exploring – paying for itself.
Travel pillow
If you’re like me, you have a hard time sleeping on the plane. I used to walk off the plane with a sore neck. After nodding off, my head would snap back every time I dozed off. That all stopped when I finally caved and bought one of these nice pillows. I actually use it sideways, because I like having a place to rest my chin. Whichever way it works for you, you’ll be glad you got one. They collapse down nicely too, so they don’t take up too much room in your carry-on.
Trackers
Another invaluable item for keeping ahold of your belongings. I personally put them in all of my bags and my neck wallet where I keep my passport.
If you’re not an Apple/Mac user, or just want a less expensive option, you’ll probably want to go with Tile instead. We use both.
Portable battery pack
Let’s face it, your phone is vital when you’re traveling. You’ll likely need it for boarding passes, flight information, maps, to take photos, to stay in touch locally and back home. The last thing you want is a dead battery. Having a portable battery pack like this is critical.
Travel WiFi Router
Avoid per-device hotel WiFi charges and create your own network. These handy devices let you create a safe network in your hotel or when using a public WiFI network. They’re ideal for allowing you to bring along devices such as Chromecasts, game consoles and wired devices.
Staying healthy
The last thing anyone wants is to get sick on vacation. Many people frequently get colds or the flu when traveling. Don’t let your vacation get ruined by getting sick. Check out these must have items to get home healthy.
Hand sanitizer
Keep those hands clean, even when there’s no restroom nearby. These are the perfect size for sliding through airport security. They have straps to allow you to attach them to your bags – so they’re always handy.
Black light flashlight
Take the guesswork out of whether or not your hotel room is clean. This handy tool allows you to see what the housekeeping crew might have missed.
Surface cleaning
Let’s face it, travel is not clean. Everything from your airplane tray table and video screen, to your hotel bathroom and TV remote are littered with germs. Taking some of these handy cleaning wipes along will help you ensure all the surfaces you touch are as clean as possible.
